Abstract
| - Effective drug delivery requires the precise spatial and temporaldelivery of therapeutic agents to the target site. To this end, avariety of chemical and physicochemical approaches have beendevised to create lipid vesicles (liposomes) that can be triggeredto release their contents in a controlled fashion. The triggers includechanges in pH, redox potential, temperature, or the level of specificenzymes. We review the chemistries that have recently been appliedto exploit the pH and redox potential triggers so as to release vesiclecontents in the appropriate biological location.
