Examination ofthe recently synthesized molecular azafullerene solid(C59N)2 under the electron microscope reveals aremarkable self-assembly of the quasi-spherical nitrogen-substitutedfullerene units on the mesoscopic length scale into large(micrometer-size) hollow spherical particles. A minority hexagonalcrystalline phase is alsopresent.
