Abstract
| - Amorphous binary sulfides MoS5, MoS5.6, and MoS6 have been prepared from the reactionsin the solutions of common (NH4)2Mo2S12 precursor. Characterizations by X-ray diffraction,IR spectroscopy, and EXAFS suggest that all three sulfides have the structures similar tothat of MoS3 but contain more abundant S−S bonds. The MoS5.6 sulfide obtained by meansof reflux of the solution of (NH4)2Mo2S12 in acetone has uniform size spherical morphology.Thermal decomposition of MoS5.6 leads to hollow spheres of MoS2.
