High yields of hydrogen and carbon nanomaterials can be obtained by the decompositionof methane using oxidized diamond-supported Ni and Pd catalysts at 873 K. This is thefirst report to show that oxidized diamond can serve as an active support material. Thesimultaneous synthesis of carbon nanomaterials and hydrogen is especially interesting.Oxidized diamond is proposed as a novel catalytic means for the synthesis of hydrogen andcarbon nanomaterials, and it is suggested that oxidized diamond may catalyze uniquereactions of importance in nanomaterial synthesis.
We determined that a high yield of hydrogen and carbon nanomaterials can be obtained by the decomposition of methane over oxidized diamond-supported Ni and Pd catalysts at 873 K.
