Abstract
  • The regeneration of coked fixed-bed catalytic reactors has beenstudied experimentally. Differenttypes of coke distribution have been artificially created in order tostudy their influence uponthe temperatures reached during regeneration. The effect of theoxygen concentration in thereactor feed and the total gas feedrate have also been studied. Inaddition, a study has beencarried out of different coke pretreatments with the aim of eliminatingpart of the hydrogen-rich coke fractions prior to regeneration, thereby reducing temperatureincreases during thesubsequent regeneration process. A new parameter, theThermal Aging Index, has beenproposed, as a means to quantify the impact that different regenerationprocedures may haveon a catalyst.
