Abstract
| - An artificial neural network (ANN) was applied to correlate the fluctuations of heat-transferrates with dynamic characteristics of bubble and liquid motions in three-dimensional bubblecolumns. The ANN was trained by the time-series data of local heat-transfer rates measured bya hot-wire probe in a bubble column of 20 cm in diameter. The well-trained ANN model exhibitedgood prediction ability for the dynamic heat-transfer rate in the bubble columns with threedifferent inner diameters of 20, 40, and 80 cm, indicating that the ANN-based model is capableof generating the universal relationship between the local heat-transfer and hydrodynamicbehaviors in bubble columns.
