Abstract
| - An approximate analytical technique is presented for solving nonlinear differential equations that governsteady-state mass transfer with reversible reaction. Its essential feature, which K. A. Smith devised to analyzemembrane transport with rapid reaction, is linearization of the kinetics on the assumption of small localdepartures from equilibrium. It is shown here to yield precise estimates of enhancement factors for absorptionand effectiveness factors for catalysis over complete ranges of operating regimes, from exceedingly slowreaction to instantaneous reaction.
