Abstract
  • The Cd−N bond distances for the tris(pyrazolyl)borate ligand in {[HC(3,5-Me2pz)3][HB(3,5-Me2pz)3]Cd}+ average 0.09 Å shorter than the Cd−N bond distances for the tris(pyrazolyl)methane ligand. In contrast, the average Cd−N distance in [HB(3,5-Me2pz)3]2Cd (2.348(5) Å) is very similar to that in {[HC(3,5-Me2pz)3]2Cd}2+ (2.321(10) Å). Thus, the comparison of the bonding properties of the two ligands in the same complex is needed to differentiate bonding characteristics.
