Abstract
| - Luminescence from K2Pd(SCN)4, [K(18-crown-6)]2Pd(SCN)4, and (2-diethylammonium N-(2,6-dimethylphenyl)acetamide)2Pd(SCN)4 is observed between 10000 and 14500 cm-1 (1000 and 690 nm) at temperatures below 100K. Luminescence lifetimes of up to 4.15 ms are measured at 10 K. The spectra show resolved vibronic progressionswith average energy intervals of 278 and 150 cm-1. The average Stokes shift determined from the luminescenceand excitation spectra is 4100 cm-1. Average dimensionless emitting-state distortions Δ of 3.75 and 1.7,corresponding to Huang−Rhys parameters S of 7.0 and 1.5, along the two modes are obtained from calculatedluminescence spectra.
- Pd(SCN)42- shows low-temperature luminescence between 700 and 1000 nm. The resolution of the spectra varies with the counterion in the crystal, and resolved vibronic progressions involve both Pd−S stretching and S−Pd−S bending modes.
