Abstract	An iron(II)−bis(terpyridine) core is used as a template to synthesize a 58-membered ring in good yield, instead of the expected corresponding interlocking-ring system. The X-ray structure of the iron complex shows the ring to be twisted and to display an 8-shaped geometry.
