Abstract
  • The pentanuclear octacyanotungstate(V)-based molecules [MnII(bpy)2][MnII(bpy)2(H2O)]2[WV(CN)8]2·7H2O are V-shaped and packed into a broken chainlike structure (because of aromatic π−π stacking of the bpy rings) forming infinite linear columns. The compound exhibits intramolecular antiferromagnetic coupling between MnII and WV ions, which leads to a high spin ground state S = 13/2. Long-range intermolecular ferromagnetic ordering occurs at 0.66 K and prevents the observation of single molecule magnet behavior.
