Abstract
| - Mononuclear iron silanethiolato complexes of the type CpFe(CO)2SSiR3, where R = Ph and iPr, were prepared and characterized. Treatment of CpFe(CO)2SSiPh3 with SO2 gave the O-silyl thiosulfite CpFe(CO)2SS(O)OSiPh3, the product of SO2 insertion into the S−Si bond.
- Mononuclear iron silanethiolato complexes of the type CpFe(CO)2SSiR3, where R = Ph (1a) and iPr (1b), wereprepared via treatment of [CpFe(CO)2(THF)]BF4 with LiSSiPh3·Et2O and NaSSiiPr3, respectively. The molecularstructure of 1a was determined by X-ray crystallography. Complex 1a was reacted with 1 equiv of SO2 to give thecorresponding O-silyl thiosulfite, CpFe(CO)2SS(O)OSiPh3 (2), via 1,2-insertion of SO2 into the S−Si bond. Thisreaction models the activation of SO2 in the homogeneously catalyzed Claus process.
