Abstract
| - The lithiated (organo)sulfonylacetonitrile complex [MeSO2CHCNLi·THF] (3) has been prepared and structurally characterized in orderto demonstrate that well-known molecular aggregates of s-blockmetals may be used as building blocks in the controlled assemblyof complex supramolecular architectures. The solid state structureof 3 can be described as a novel basket-weaved, 2-D network, composed of (SO2Li)2 “dimeric” rings joined via “interdimer” donationof nitrile units.
- s-Block metal aggregates can successfully be used as supramolecular synthons to control the 2-D assembly of network structures. Lithiation of (methyl)sulfonylacetonitrile in THF results in the formation of the expected dimeric (SO2Li)2 ring motif, which acts as a novel offset pseudo square planar synthon.
