Abstract
  • Clusters containing nine lanthanide and six sodium ions are revealed to be highly luminescent host−guest assemblies, e.g., Eu⊂Na6Eu8L16 with quantum yield equal to 32%; other LnIII ions may be inserted, leading, for instance, to a EuIII−YbIII edifice displaying dual luminescence in the visible and NIR spectral ranges.
  • Clusters containing nine lanthanide and six sodium ions arecrystallized with the help of a tridentate ligand bearing a phosphonicacid group; the structure of the EuIII compound reveals a host−guest assembly Eu⊂Na6Eu8L16 with a substantial quantum yield(32%). A similar EuIII−YbIII structure displays dual luminescencein the visible (EuIII) and NIR (YbIII) ranges.
