| Abstract
| - The complex HoII4MnIII6(shi)6(H2shi)2(sal)2(OH)2(O2CCH3)4(MeOH)8 (aqua spheres, HoIII; orange spheres, MnIII) and the DyIII analogue were investigated for single-molecule magnet (SMM) behavior. Frozen solution ac magnetic susceptibility measurements confirm that only the DyIII4MnIII6 complex behaves as a SMM (red, 1000 Hz; green, 500 Hz; blue, 100 Hz; black, 10 Hz). In a rare phenomenon, the SMM behavior is enhanced in the frozen solution state.
- A DyIII4MnIII6 complex with a metallacrown (MC)-like topologypossesses frequency-dependent magnetic behavior, indicatingpossible single-molecule magnet behavior.
