Abstract
| - Surface tension and density of {acetonitrile + methanol, ethanol, 1-propanol, 1-butanol, or 1-pentanol} at thetemperature 293.15 K and normal atmospheric pressure have been measured as a function of mole fraction. TheRedlich−Kister polynomial equation was fitted to each of the experimental surface tension deviation and excessmolar volume results. Using the resulting polynomial equations, the surface tension deviations and the excessmolar volumes (Δσ,) were calculated over the entire composition range. The results obtained are discussedand interpreted in terms of the type and nature of the specific intermolecular interaction between the components.
