| Abstract
| - This paper attempts at quantitative and qualitativeassessment of alkaloid chemistry (a subgroup of organicchemistry) research in India as viewed through ChemicalAbstracts. While focusing on World outputvis-a-vis Indian output in terms of publications, this paper identifiesthe centers of excellence of alkaloid chemistryresearch, the research groups involved, and their channels ofcommunication, besides studying the citednessof Indian work. Alkaloid chemistry research performed in India isfound to be fairly collaborative and partof main stream science.
