Abstract
  • Polymer nomenclature styles and structure representation systemsdescribed, recommended, or used byChemical Abstracts Service (CAS), the International Union of Pure andApplied Chemistry (IUPAC), MDLInformation Systems, Inc. (MDL), and DuPont are compared andcontrasted. Structure-based versus source-based nomenclature and structural representations are discussed. The types covered in this paper (part 1 of4) are regular single-strand organic homo- and copolymers.Nomenclature styles and structural representationsof end groups are included.
