Abstract
  • The first whisky lactone precursors,(3S,4S)-3-methyl-4-hydroxyoctanoic acid3-O-β-d-glucopyranoside and its 6‘-O-gallate, were isolated from the woodof Platycarya strobilacea, togetherwith 10 known tannins and related compounds. Their structures weredetermined on the basisof spectroscopic and chemical evidence.
