The sulfated flavonoids in Polygonum hydropiper showedpotent inhibiton against lens aldosereductase. Among these flavonoids isorhamnetin 3,7-disulfate(5) was most potent. Kineticanalysis showed that 5 exhibited noncompetitive inhibitionagainst both dl-glyceraldehyde andNADPH.
