| Abstract
| - In the presence of Fe3+-K-10 montmorilloniteclay as a catalyst, aliphatic carboxylic acids selectivelyproduced the corresponding esters in the presence of aromatic carboxylic acids by treatment with alcohols. Both thealiphatic and aromatic carboxylic acids formed the amidesby reacting with the aliphatic amines, but only the aliphaticcarboxylic acids yielded the anilides by treatment witharomatic amines. The catalyst is recoverable and recyclable.
