| Abstract
| - Acetal, trityl, and TBDMS protecting groups on saccharideswere subjected to alcoholysis using a catalytic amount ofvanadyl triflate in an MeOH−CH2Cl2 solvent system. Theconfiguration at the anomeric positions of saccharides wasretained, and no glycosidic bond cleavage and oxidation ofsulfides were observed. The presented method was easilyimplemented, compatible with diverse functional groups, andregioselective in some cases.
