gem-Dibromomethylarenes: A ConvenientSubstitute for Noncommercial Aldehydes in theKnoevenagel−Doebner Reaction for the Synthesisof α,β-Unsaturated Carboxylic Acids
A facile synthesis of α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acids fromgem-dibromomethylarenes is described. gem-Dibromomethylarenes are employed for the first time in the Knoevenagel−Doebner reaction as aldehyde equivalents for theefficient synthesis of α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acids.
