Abstract	A new stereocontrolled synthetic route to omuralide has been developed from methyl pyroglutamate.This route involves regio- and stereoselective N-methylnitrone 1,3-dipolar cycloadditions to appropriatepyrrolinones, β-eliminations, and highly selective hydrogenations as the main steps.
