Abstract	Propargylic sulfides and dithioacetals are found to undergo similar transformations as propargyliccarboxylates when catalyzed by AuCl or AuCl3, affording indene derivatives through pentannulation ofaromatic rings. The reaction presumably involves Au carbene as the reactive intermediate.
