Abstract
  • Optically detected ESR and magnetic field effect on recombinationluminescence yield (MARY) spectroscopyof spin-correlated radical ion pairs were used to study cis-and trans-decalin radical cations in nonpolarsolutions. The differences observed in cis- andtrans-decalin spectra are demonstrated to agree with theexistence oftemperature-activated intramolecular dynamic transitions intrans-decalin radical cation. In dilutedsolutionswith decalin added as acceptors, the MARY spectroscopy technique yieldsthe spectra of the correspondingradical cations even at room temperature. Under these conditions, the fast limit of dynamic transitions intrans-decalin radical cation takes place. It isdemonstrated that both cis- and trans-decalinradical cationstake part in ion−molecular charge transfer to a neutral molecule, therate constant being close to the diffusion-controlled one.
