Abstract
| - Indocyanine green in water and in aqueous NaCl solutions formslarge J-aggregate globules. With risingaggregate size the apparent absorption cross section per moleculedecreases because of specific surface reductionof the aggregates. A theoretical description of the absorptionbehavior is given for dense spheres, looselypacked spheres (globules), straight chains, and coiled chains. Thevolume fill factor of the globules isdetermined from the absorption reduction measurements using the degreeof aggregation from Mie scatteringexperiments described elsewhere.
