Abstract
| - An entry into (chiral) palladium complexesbearing N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) ligands is outlinedon the basis of the oxidative addition of Pd(PPh3)4 toeasily accessible (enantiopure) 2-chloro-1,3-disubstitutedimidazolinium salts. This procedure is complementaryto existing methodology that relies on metathetic ligandexchange reactions without changing the oxidation stateof the involved metal center.
- An entry into palladium complexes bearing N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) ligands is outlined on the basis of the oxidative addition of Pd(PPh3)4 to easily accessible 2-chloro-1,3-disubstituted imidazolinium salts. This procedure is complementary to existing methodology that relies on metathetic ligand exchange reactions without changing the oxidation state of the involved metal center. Complexes 2a−c thus formed have been characterized by X-ray crystallography and were applied to palladium-catalyzed Suzuki type reactions. The synthesis of the chiral palladium−NHC complex 7 illustrates the scope of this novel procedure.
