Abstract
| - The first triboracyclobutane, 2c, a two-electron homoaromatic having a nonclassical σ skeleton, was generated at −80 °C and stabilized as its dianion2a2-, which was characterized by the crystal structuredetermination of its dilithium salt and which possessesa classical σ skeleton.
- The first triboracyclobutane, 2c, was generated at −80 °C and stabilized as its dianion 2a2-, which was characterized by a crystal structure determination of its dilithium salt. Reoxidation of a [D10]Et2O solution of this salt by 1,2-dibromoethane at −100 °C allowed for the characterization of 2c by 1H, 13C, and 11B NMR spectroscopy. Comparison of these 11B chemical shifts with those computed for model compounds revealed 2c to be a two-electron homoaromatic having a nonclassical σ skeleton.
