Abstract
| - In this paper we report the syntheses and the structural characterization of [(NHC)Zn(O-2,6-iPr2C6H3)2] (2) and [(NHC)Zn(OH)(O-2,4,6-Me3C6H2)]2 (3).
- The reaction of (NHC)ZnEt2 (1) with 2,6-diisopropylphenol in the molar ratio 1:2 at room temperature resultedin the formation of NHC-stabilized monomeric tricoordinatedzinc aryloxide (2), whereas the reaction of (NHC)ZnEt2 (1) with2,4,6-trimethylphenol either in the presence of moisture or withdeliberate addition of an equivalent amount of water in themolar ratio 1:2:1 afforded an unprecedented zinc hydroxyaryloxide (3). In this contribution we describe the syntheses andthe structural characterization of 2 and 3 as well as theimportance of the sterically encumbered phenols in the isolationof the final products.
