Abstract
| - Chromium-based ethylene tri- and tetramerizationcatalysts have been evaluated with a combination of trialkylaluminium and borate cocatalyst activation. A remarkable effecton activity and selectivity has been observed and studied, anda cocatalyst-induced degradation pathway has been identified.
- Chromium-based ethylene tri- and tetramerization catalysts may be activated through alkylation with trialkylaluminium, followed by treatment with the alkyl-abstracting agent B(C6F5)3 or Ph3C−B(C6F5)4. The ratio of catalyst to cocatalyst has a surprising effect on activity and selectivity, and a cocatalyst-induced degradation pathway has been identified.
