Abstract
| - Rhodium carboxylato complexes bearing N-heterocyclic carbene ligands, [Rh(IPr)(CO)2(OAc)] (1)and [Rh(IPr)2(CO)(OAc)] (2), have been synthesized and characterized. The two complexes are catalyticallyactive for the regioselective hydroformylation of both aryl and aliphatic alkenes with regioselectivitiesof up to 40:1, without concomitant isomerization or hydrogenation.
- Rhodium carboxylato complexes bearing N-heterocyclic carbene ligands have been synthesized and characterized. Although both bis- and mono(carbene) complexes are active in the hydroformylation of olefins, the mono(carbene) complex displays much greater activity. In the case of aryl alkenes regioselectivities of up to 40:1 are obtained. For aliphatic alkenes, the catalyst is unique in its ability to hydroformylate the substrate without concomitant isomerization or hydrogenation.
