Abstract
| - The monofluoromethylidene complexes Ru(CHF)(H2IMes)(PCy3)Cl2 (10) and Ru(CHF)(H2IMes)(py)2Cl2 (11)have been synthesized from Ru(CHPh)(H2IMes)(PCy3)Cl2 andRu(CHPh)(H2IMes)(py)2Cl2 via reaction with β-fluorostyrene.Both 10 and 11 catalyze ring-closing metathesis and cross-metathesis with activity comparable to that of Ru(CHOEt)(H2IMes)(PCy3)Cl2.
- The mono(fluoromethylidene) complexes Ru(CHF)(H2IMes)(PCy3)Cl2 (10) and Ru(CHF)(H2IMes)(py)2Cl2 (11) have been synthesized from Ru(CHPh)(H2IMes)(PCy3)Cl2 and Ru(CHPh)(H2IMes)(py)2Cl2 via reaction with β-fluorostyrene. Both 10 and 11 catalyze ring-closing metathesis and cross-metathesis with activity comparable to that of Ru(CHOEt)(H2IMes)(PCy3)Cl2. Although 10 does not react with ethyl vinyl ether, 11 reacts to form Ru(CHOEt)(H2IMes)(py)2Cl2 and vinyl fluoride. Though stable in the solid state, 10 eventually decomposes in solution to the carbide complex Ru(⋮C:)(H2IMes)(PCy3)Cl2.
