Abstract
| - Abstract. From Petrograd to Berlin, from Berlin to Paris, from Paris to the maquis, the patch followed by Jacob Gordin appears as a travel from east to west. Taking into account the differences between the French intellectual trend and the Russian and German scientifical landscape, the influence of J. Gordin upon Jewish thinkers in France fits into the issue of a cultural collision. In order to reach a better assessment of what is at stake in this collision, the author chose to resort to the notion of linguistical landscape so as to understand more precisely the stakes of communication and non-communication between J. Gordin and the French audience. Such sociolinguistics of knowledge will enable to perceive the specificity of a particular historical situation, the encounter of a Russian polyglot Jewish thinker with monolingual French Israelites. But the primacy of linguistics must not lead to forget the importance of others factors, such as the difference between epistemic standards concerning the studies of Gordin and those of his French audience. Both these lines entailing respectively a sociolinguistic analysis and an epistemological approach will help to point more accurately the stakes of the encounter between J. Gordin and young French Jewish people whom he introduced to a new kind of relationship with the Jewish culture.
