| - Résumé. Cet article traite du processus de nationalisation dans l’Espagne des années 1940, tout en insistant sur le rôle joué par les firmes étrangères. D’une part, les nationalisations ne peuvent pas être perçues comme le point central de l’évolution des affaires sous le franquisme. D’autres aspects, comme le développement de cartels ou la multiplication de mesures arbitraires dans la politique économique - à l’origine d’une baisse de la compétitivité -, doivent être mis en avant. D’autre part, en raison du retard technologique de l’économie espagnole, l’investissement étranger direct s’est poursuivi lors des premières années du régime de Franco, malgré la nationalisation et l’hispanisation de certaines firmes étrangères.
- Abstract. This article deals with the nationalization process in 1940s Spain, with special emphasis on the role played by foreign firms. On the one hand, these nationalizations cannot be understood as the main specific figure of the evolution of business during Franco’s regime. Other aspects, such as the development of cartels or the increasing arbitrary measures in economic policy decision making - which resulted in a decrease in competence -, are considered the most specific features of this period. On the other hand, due to the technological backwardness of the Spanish economy, Foreign Direct Investment did continue in Spain during the early regime of Franco, although some foreign firms were nationalized or passed on to private Spanish ownership.
