| Abstract
| - This paper argues that science popularisation is an historical notion, rooted in a specific context of relations between science and society. « Vulgarisation », a notion characteristic of the twentieth century is contrasted with the nineteenth-century movement of popular science, on the one hand, and the emerging model of citizen science, on the other hand. Their respective assumptions and interests at stake will be outlined in order to identify various regimes of science communication and to understand the changes under way in the early twenty-first century.
- La vulgarisation scientifique est un concept daté, ancré dans un contexte précis de rapports entre sciences et sociétés. Tel est l’argument développé dans cet article qui souligne le contraste entre la vulgarisation - caractéristique du XX e siècle - et le grand élan de science populaire qui anime le XIX e siècle, d’une part, le modèle émergent de science citoyenne, d’autre part. Ainsi cette contribution tente-t-elle de dégager les présupposés ainsi que les enjeux des différents régimes de communication scientifique et de comprendre le changement de paysage qui s’esquisse à l’aube du XXI e siècle.
