| Abstract
| - We report here the isolation of two pathogenic Naegleria strains which by their biological (thermotolerance, axenisation, pathogenicity), biochemical (zymogram patterns), and antigenic characters can be identified as belonging to N. australiensis whereas only one strain (type species PP 397) was known until now. The pathogenicity among this genus of free-living amoebas is no more an exclusive feature of N. fowleri.
- Nous rapportons l’isolement de deux souches de Naegleria pathogènes qui par l’ensemble de leurs caractères biologiques (thermotolérance, axénisation, pathogénicité), biochimiques (comparaison des zymogrammes) et antigéniques peuvent être identifiées à N. australiensis dont un seul exemplaire (souche type PP 397) était jusqu’à présent connu. La pathogénicité au sein de ce genre d’amibes libres ne constitue plus désormais un caractère exclusif de N. fowleri.
