Abstract
  • SUMMARY. Trees in catchment areas are believed to affect the supply of water to reservoirs. Increased flooding has been noticed where extensive modern drainage has been practised. Stream-flow measurements were recorded over a short period in the headwaters of the Conway in autumn 1967 and run-off from a recently planted area was initially faster than from closed woodland and very much faster than from an unplanted (and undrained) site.
