Abstract
  • Genetic conservation principles are discussed in relation to Britain's native trees, drawing on examples from other countries. Patterns of variation and the impacts of forest management on genetic resources are considered. This paper concludes with a ranked order of priorities for action to conserve genetic variation both in established native woodland and in new plantations of native trees.
