Abstract	Respite services offer families caring for aged relatives the opportunity to temporarily relinquish care-taking responsibilities. Two respite programs were evaluated after 1 year's experience: an institutional program for those needing constant nursing attention, and a residential plan for those requiring housekeeping and companion services. The benefits of respite services for clients, family, and community appear to be indisputable.
