  • This article explores key dimensions by which social work practice has been described and communicated to the professional social work community in the United States. Content analysis of position vacancy descriptions is used to identify major themes in a moving profile of social work practice during the relatively recent development of the profession. The authors, having analyzed the data, outline implications for future development of social work practice and pose questions for possible future research.
