Abstract
| - Abstract. Twenty-three Moslem boys in Cyprus were circumcised by one non-medical operator. Of these, 13 developed tetanus, with 5 deaths. All the boys who could be traced were given prophylactic serum; and 10 did not develop the disease. Tetanus bacilli were isolated postmortem from the wound of one fatal case, and from the dressings used by the operator. In all cases the wounds were very septic, and no aseptic precautions seem to have been taken. I should like to express appreciation of the help given by the doctors who supplied me with details of these cases, Dr. Atta Hikmet, Dr. Orhan, Dr. Pietroni, and Dr. Spyros Charalambides.
