. . "The objective was to describe the motives, feelings and representations related to induced abortion in Togolese women. It was a cross-sectional study from March to April 2006. Data collected were age, marital status, education, occupation, social and psychological parameters associated to the pregnancy. The sample was composed of women aged from 14 to 34 year-old, including 25% adolescents. Reasons for induced abortion were economic difficulties (64%), desire to continue professional activities (32%) and conflicts with partner or family (24%). A mixed picture of feeling of relief and fear was reported after abortion in the majority of women. Induced abortion was perceived as a crime and a damnation in the majority of them. For women aged less than 26 years, it was an act of liberation, versu emancipation for the elders. Fear and regret were expressed respectively by 72.73% and 63.64% of uninstructed, versus 46.80% and 26.67% for secondary level instructed women. Feeling and representation of the induced abortion are linked to social factors, similar to those reported in other African and Eastern studies. It is recommended to integrate complete sexual and reproduction health education in youth programs at all levels."@en . "2010"^^ . . . . . . . .
