Abstract
  • Three new furostanol oligoglycosides, 3-O-{α-l-rhamnopyranosyl-(1→2)-[α-l-rhamnopyranosyl-(1→4)]-β-d-glucopyranosyl}-26-O-β-d-glucopyranosyl-22α-methoxy-25R-furost-5-ene-3β,17α,26-triol (1), 3-O-{α-l-rhamnopyranosyl-(1→2)-[α-l-rhamnopyranosyl-(1→4)]-β-d-glucopyranosyl}-26-O-β-d-glucopyranosylfurost-5-ene-3β,17α,22α,25,26-pentol (2), and 3-O-{α-l-rhamnopyranosyl-(1→2)-[α-l-rhamnopyranosyl-(1→4)]-β-d-glucopyranosyl}-26-O-β-d-glucopyranosylfurost-5-ene-3β,22α,25,26-tetrol (3),named lycianthosides A−C, together with known flavone glycosides were isolated from Lycianthessynanthera leaves, an edible plant of the Solanaceae family that grows naturally in Guatemala. Thenutrient composition of the raw leaves was also evaluated. Keywords: Lycianthes synanthera; Solanaceae; leaves; furostanol saponins; lycianthosides A−C, 1Dand 2D NMR spectroscopy; flavone glycosides; nutrient composition
