| Abstract
| - As clinicians, diagnosis is a large part of our daily work. When we consider how frequently diagnoses must be made and how vital diagnosis is for subsequent clinical management, we can quickly see how important good diagnosis is to our clinical practice. If diagnosis should be evidence-based (1), then we need to ask the following questions: How can clinical diagnosis become more evidencebased? How can we help ourselves get diagnostic evidence straight, translate it into evidence-based diagnostic policy, and then apply that policy to the right patients, in the right way, at the right time (2)? What investigational, operational, and educational issues do we need to address?
